Lego Explores 3D Printing from Past to Present
LEGO, the toy giant built upon plastic building-block toys that rose to massive popularity in 1932 celebrates its 90th anniversary in hometown Billund, Denmark. One of the new products on display was a 3D-printed duck toy in honor of the original LEGO toy design. The event was held on September 22nd, also known in Denmark as AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) Day, created to celebrate LEGO and generations of likeminded enthusiasts, with panels, showcases and even meet engineers behind the 90-year old toy company. Fans who bought any of three exclusive AFOL Day 2022 mini-figures would receive the plastic duck. The duck is a recreation, not just a copy print with plastic, it has a moving beak, which opens and closes when the duck is pulled back and forth. The duck would go to the drawing board in 1935 and be produced until 1960. From 1947 onwards, the LEGO Company produced both wooden and plastic toys before switching exclusively to plastic in 1960.
