General Electric sells Tech to Hyliion for Electric Boogaloo
GE Additives, a branch of General Electric agreed with Hyliion to transfer technology for a new hydrogen and fuel agnostic capable generator. The deal leverages GE Additive’s metal additive technologies including their Concept Laser and Arcam Electron Beam Melting technology with the support of the giant General Electric. This new truck engine will bring another example of 3D printing applications allowing greater competition in the electric vehicle market and practical non-emission engines.
“Hyliion produces electrified powertrain systems that can augment or fully replace traditional diesel- or natural gas-fueled powertrains. Its systems are designed to improve performance and lower total cost of ownership while leveraging the existing alternative fuel infrastructure.”
By late 2023, Hyliion plans to release the Hypertruck ERX leveraging natural gas engine as an onboard generator, afterwards, the Hypertruck KARNO will be fueled by hydrogen. Hydrogen is the most abundant chemical substance in the universe, constituting roughly 75% of all known matter and number 1 on the periodic table. It is colorless, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, and highly…
